It’s looking more and more like we’re raising a future Olympic swimmer. Or a professional scuba diver. Or a mermaid. Either way, this is one little girl who loves the water. We decided that we’d see how far we could push our overbearing property owner’s association and went this morning to buy Madi her very own blue-plastic swimming pool. I’m pretty sure there’s something in the neighborhood bylaws against it, since there’s a rule in there for just about everything else, but we’ll wait on the 2nd ‘final’ notice before we do anything (yes, I’m speaking from experience and I’m bitter about it, but that’s another story for another time). After we got home, and Madi took a nap, she went for her first “swim”, or at least the first swim that wasn’t in the tub or the kitchen sink. She loved it and splashed around in there for a good long time. Later this evening, we found her sitting at the back door patting the glass and wanting to go for another swim (we let her, of course). She did great in the pool, other than the two (yes, two) times she stood up, leaned over the edge and fell completely out onto the deck. The whole cause-and-effect thing is going to take some time…
