Tonight is a sad night in the Riley household. You see, we’ve been officially on vacation since a week ago this past Friday at around 3:00 PM. Tonight is our last night of “vacation” before getting back into the swing of things with work, daycare and our hectic lives tomorrow morning bright and early…
Some of you may remember a post here many months ago where we were debating about where to go on our vacation this spring. So, the inevitable question is “Where did you go?” Well, to Northwest Arkansas, of course! We can’t seem to stay away from there anytime we have vacation to spend. We had a great vacation up there, but it went by way, way too fast. Madi enjoyed getting to see more family members than she could shake a stick at and greatly enjoyed completing her conversion into a diva. She was sweet as could be most of the time, but the few times she wasn’t sweet were rough! Terrible twos? More like terrible 10 months! Unfortunately she decided to pop out another tooth right after vacation started and worked on it all week, and she wasn’t afraid to let us know about it. Combine that with the overload of attention and you’ve got the makings for a horrible Monday for the daycare workers. They’ll definitely earn their money tomorrow!
There was one disturbing aspect of Madi’s development that popped up over vacation… “Bonking.” What is “bonking?” Well, let me tell you… Bonking is basically Madi headbutting EVERYTHING. The dog. The coffee table. The bathtub. Pretty much anything that would hold still long enough for her to manuever that head of hers into headbutting position. It’s not just headbutting either… She wants you to say “BONK!” everytime she does it. She did start kissing this week, which was sweet, but she’s quick to follow up those kisses with a proper headbutt! Rebecca and I tried to get her to lay down and take a nap with us yesterday afternoon and she promptly crawled her way up to the headboard of the bed and started repeatedly bonking her head against it. We just looked at each other and saw the hope of an ivy league education slipping away with each bonk…
