After 6 weeks of dreading it, Madi had her 2-month doctor’s visit on Monday, which meant it was time for her first shots. Well, not her first shots, since she got a couple of them in the hospital, but her first ones where we were present and had to witness what we could only expect to be akin to going grocery shopping at noon on a Sunday… As it turns out, she took them like a champ. At least the first one anyway… The first (of three) wasn’t bad and she didn’t even flinch. The second one made her bottom lip stick out and her chin quiver a little and the third one really got her going. She screamed so loud you’d have thought they were injecting red hot magma into her chubby little thigh, but she didn’t scream long and by the time we left she was happy (although she and I switched roles when I discovered my truck had a flat and I had to change it in the middle of a concrete parking lot — in Dallas — in August). Here’s a photo of her while we were trying to get her dressed again, still screaming (yes, her face was THAT red):
For those who care, Madi’s stats as of this last visit are as follows:
- Weight: 10lb 9oz (50th percentile)
- Length: 24in. (95th percentile)
- Head: 15.25in. (75th percentile)
The standard response I’ve gotten so far when anyone’s asked at work or whatever about her weight and length is that ‘wow, she is growing longer rather than wider, guess she takes after her mother?’ I’m not sure quite how to take that…
